Who can benefit from an intensive?
An INTENSIVE is for any couple who wants to work on their relationship without having to experience the "stop/start" of weekly therapy sessions.

Here are the characteristics of couples who will find an INTENSIVE helpful:
  • Couples who live a complicated life that makes scheduling weekly sessions difficult.
  • Couples who are in crisis.  For example, they are experiencing unusually high conflict or have recently experienced significant loss or trauma such as infidelity.
  • Couples who need to make an important decision and don't have weeks or months to work through the decision.
  • Couples who have lost connection with each other over time and need a serious injection of energy to restart their relationship.​
  • Couples who are considering divorce but want to give their relationship one last chance to "come alive."

What can you expect?
In many ways an intensive is similar to weekly therapy.  The major difference is that with an intensive there is no stopping in the middle of an important moment because the therapy hour has expired.  As the name suggests, an intensive allows couples to dive deeply into the issues they're confronting and is therefore very efficient.  

The duration of the intensive varies depending on the circumstances.  It can be one 5-6 hour day.  Or, it can be two or three days.  Each intensive will have breaks for lunch, individual reflection and activities designed to promote change.
Each intensive is tailored to the couple's situation and personality.  This is not a one-size-fits-all experience.  Prior to the intensive you will be asked to provide information that will allow us to "hit the ground running" so that precious time and resources are not wasted.
Who will you work with?
Your intensive will be a unique opportunity to work with both Dr. Hiltz and Dr. Thiessen.  Together they offer over 50 years of experience helping couples navigate the complexities of a life together.  Both have extensive training in couple therapy.
Where?
Although an intensive can be done virtually, it's effectiveness is enhanced by being in person. Our office is in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania.  Unless a couple wishes to meet virtually or prefers to meet elsewhere, the intensive will be located at our office.
When?
Intensives are generally scheduled on the weekend.  Accommodations, however, can be made for couples who prefer to meet during the week.

We offer a one-day intensive for $1800 with a $300 deposit to reserve the day.
You have likely put heart and soul into your intimate relationship.  If you're considering an intensive it probably means things aren't going the way you'd like.  What we offer you and your circumstance is  substantial academic background, extensive post-graduate training, many years of experience and a passion for working with couples.
